CCPrep Celebrates our Student Wellness Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony!

The weather couldn’t have been better on Sept. 29 as Community College Preparatory Academy celebrated the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our Student Wellness Center. CCPrep welcomed community members and partners to our MLK campus to join in this momentous occasion with us – the event gave guests the opportunity to explore our new Care Kitchen and Men’s Haberdashery/Women’s Boutique, and learn more about CCPrep’s wellness offerings. The CCPrep Student Wellness Center will help us expand our ability to support our students in need. Not only will we support our adult charter school students in their GED and career training/certifications, but we will also be able to provide new and exciting opportunities for them to expand their skill sets beyond the school walls.

Community College Preparatory Academy would like to issue a special thanks to our honored guest speakers for sharing your kind words of wisdom and support:

  • Amanda Chulick/Sophia Marcus (on behalf of Councilmember-at-Large Anita Bonds)
  • Dr. Michelle Walker-Davis (DC Public Charter School Board)
  • Dr. Ramona Edelin (DC Charter School Alliance)

The Community College Preparatory Academy Student Wellness Center has a variety of offerings for our students in need. Our Care Kitchen provides food and nutritional information for students in order to support a healthy lifestyle and eating habits. Our Men’s Haberdashery/Women’s Boutique provides clothing for students who may not have many clothing options to choose from; the Haberdashery/Boutique offers professional attire perfect for an upcoming job interview, as well as school-appropriate daily wear. By providing these resources, students are able to continue their educational track, whereas before they may have been forced to choose between their education and finding a way to procure these resources for themselves and for their families.

The Student Wellness Center also offers workshops to support a well-rounded education and career/living skills. Thus far, Community College Preparatory Academy has held financial literacy workshops, parenting support workshops, fitness and nutrition workshops – and the list continues to grow every day!

CCPrep welcomes and encourages our community members to stop by and see our Student Wellness Center in action! Our Student Wellness Center is located at our MLK Campus (2405 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SE)
